TAURINE

Taurine acts as a neurotransmitter in the brain, stabilizes cell membranes, and facilitates ion transport of sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. After GABA, it is the second most important inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain, having anticonvulsant and anxiolytic properties.

Taurine lowers levels of glutamic acid in the brain and preliminary clinical trials suggest that it may be helpful in some forms of epilepsy.
